It's our second game in the LV= Cup this weekend and after picking up a hard earned losing bonus point last week it's doubly important we get back to winning ways against Saracens on Friday night.
Against Irish at the weekend we got off to a great start with a magnificent solo effort from captain Dwayne Peel, and a try from Danny Cipriani later on in the half. Unfortunately in the second half, Irish really upped the pressure on us and our set piece let us down a bit. Unfortunately they built up a lead and we had to work hard to get our bonus point with a last minute try.
After a good performance last week, we were disappointed we couldn't get back to back wins but we will be looking to put the little things that let us down last week right on Friday against one of the top teams in the league. There were some great individual performances from the game and that is a real positive we can take forward. Charlie Amesbury, Mark Jennings and Tommy Taylor were very good to name a few, and its good to have players performing well in the squad to really increase the competition for places.
So, it is Sale Sharks v Saracens on Friday night, and after a convincing win over Leicester last week they will be high on confidence and looking to get a win that will greatly help their chance of a place in the next round of the LV= Cup. For us, we are determined to do well in the LV and after the bonus point picked up at Irish we know nothing less than wins from here on out will do.
Although Saracens didn't play many of their 'big names' last week, they have a very strong squad and any team they put out will provide us with a great challenge. However if we do come through, it will really give us some momentum going in to Gloucester away next weekend and it will hopefully be springboard to better results and us climbing back up the league. After that match we play Northampton Saints in the Premiership on November 30th, which is another huge fixture!
We can't wait to get back out in front of our home crowd and we hope to see as many of you there as possible Friday!
