One of the success stories of a disappointing 2010/11, Tom is the archetypal 'local boy done good'. After a try-scoring debut in the Premiership against Newcastle at the start of last season, the Flixton flyer would continue to impress before being sidelined by two separate shoulder injuries, which both required surgery. But after a summer of rehabilitation, the winger made his return to action for the Sharks in the pre-season JP Morgan Sevens. He said: "I've had two shoulder operations in one season which I think is as unlucky as it gets but I'm raring to go now and, hopefully, I've now got all of my bad luck out of the way. Mind you, my mum said I should have taken up tiddlywinks if I wanted to stay to out of the operating theatre!"
