Probably the most high-profile of the Sharks' numerous summer signings, Andy arrived at Edgeley Park on a two-year contract just a week after leaving Aviva Premiership rivals Wasps by mutual consent. A member of the British and Irish Lions touring party to South Africa in 2009, Andy lists Cardiff, Newport and Llanelli among his former clubs and is a Wales international with 17 international caps to his name. On signing him for Sale, Steve Diamond said: "This is a huge signing. Andy has tremendous experience, is one of the best ball-carrying forwards in world rugby and is one of the final pieces in the jigsaw as far as our recruitment goes."
