Flanker Richie's signing by the Sharks was confirmed just days after he came off the bench for Scotland in their 2011 Calcutta Cup clash with England. Recruited from Glasgow, he offers the versatility of also being able to play at number eight and has been capped by Scotland at all levels, including Sevens. Arguably his country's most athletic and skilful forward, Richie follows in the footsteps of Jason White, who headed south from Glasgow to Sale in 2003 and went on to become a hugely influential figure at the Sharks.
