Sale Sharks Academy
The Sale Sharks Academy is an initiative supported by both Sale Sharks and England Rugby to develop the best 13 – 19 year old rugby players from the North West region into the future stars of Sale Sharks and the England international teams.
Sale Sharks were rewarded with RFU Academy status in 2002. Our Academy has consistently produced age-grade players capable of playing professional and international rugby. We measure our success by the long list of players we have produced for Sale Sharks and England; most notably England international and Sharks' wing Mark Cueto and fly half Charlie Hodgson, and more recent England Junior internationals, Sale Sharks’ lock James Gaskell and back row Carl Fearns.
Players selected to participate in our Academy will be placed into one of three programmes depending upon age and ability: RFU ‘School of Rugby’, Elite Player Development Group, and finally the Sale Sharks Academy Programme. Players will progress through the levels to earn selection for our Academy team, known as Sale Jets, and then ultimately into the Sale Sharks first team squad.
