Nic Rouse Signs For Sale Sharks

SALE Sharks have moved to further beef up their pack by swooping to sign lock Nic Rouse. The 29-year-old has made the step up to the Aviva Premiership from Championship side Nottingham, for whom he has been a sterling servant over the past few years, making over 120 appearances.

Sharks playing in Issoire next Friday

Sale Sharks face French champions ASM Clermont Auvergne at le Stade Jacques Lavedrine in Issoire next Friday, kick off 20:00 hrs local time. Former Sharks Jason White and Lionel Faure are members of their playing staff. A day of rugby starts at 1500 hrs., with Lyon facing Oyonnax two hours before Mike Brewer's team play their Top 14 opponents.

Watch Aviva Premiership Rugby live on ESPN this season

ESPN will broadcast 43 live exclusive Aviva Premiership Rugby games this season beginning with the London Double Header on September 4th. Sale Sharks' away game at Saracens on Sunday, 12th September is one of the early games. ESPN will also be the only channel broadcasting the final. In addition ESPN delivers live coverage of French Top 14 Orange Rugby and will air the France and Italy home Autumn Internationals. ESPN also recently announced an agreement to show archive matches and footage from each of the six Rugby World Cup tournaments to date on ESPN Classic in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The season of 'Change' brings new kit for Sale Sharks

It’s a case of “bring in the new” for Sale Sharks, the North West’s Premier Rugby club, with new Chief Executive Mick Hogan in charge at the top, new Head Coach Mike Brewer forming a squad with new stars from all over the World joining the club’s established heroes to face the challenge of the coming season. The club’s up-and-coming players have a new Academy Manager Ray Unsworth, and the Edgeley Park pitch is in splendid shape, with a new drainage system installed.

Sharks training at Southport

Sale Sharks continue their 'Training in the Community' programme this week with a Thursday afternoon visit to Southport RFC, Waterloo Road, Hillside, PR8 4QW. The session starts at 2.30 p.m. and will last two hours. Come along and watch Mike Brewer's men go through their training drills. The Sharks' Community Department will be there to explain what's happening, and will organise a 'challenge' session against the players. When that's over, you've the chance to collect autographs and have a photo opportunity.

Sale Sharks centre signing Kyle Tonetti can't wait for the match action to start, and revealed that he's expecting to receive a lot of questions about a former colleague! Kyle (23), a former Ireland Under-20 international, was one of the first cohort of players attending pre-season training, and hopes that the "long, hard days" will be worthwhile.

"It's all square at Edgeley Park"

The Appliance of Science, chapter 2, took place at Edgeley Park this afternoon as laser technology was employed to mark the first white lines on the impressive, new green pitch. Using equipment called BeamRider, reported to be worth £7,000, two groundsmen from Manchester Grammar School joined Edgeley Park's Head of Groundstaff Lee Horton and his predecessor Danny Huffman, now with Salford Reds, to ensure that the lines were not only straight, but perfectly marked at right angles. The long piece of string is just for guidance - the laser beams from the corner gadget (small picture) actually guide the member of staff operating the pitch line marker.

First Four Amlin fixtures announced

Sale Sharks will start their Amlin Challenge Cup campaign at home to Cetransa El Salvador on Friday, 8th October, the first time they have ever faced Spanish opponents, before travelling to Italy the following weekend to play Petrarca Rugby at the Stadio Plebiscito on Saturday 16th October. The much awaited games against Brive (headline picture) will be played back-to-back in December, with the first game in France on Saturday 11th December (20:45 local time) and the return encounter at Edgeley Park arranged for Sunday 19th December (15:00).

Sale Sharks through to JP Morgan Sevens Finals

Sale Sharks played impressive Sevens Rugby and qualified, along with Newcastle Falcons, for the competition's finals night at Bath on August 6th. Two strong bonus point wins against Leeds and Leicester left them one point behind the Falcons in the final reckoning.

Sale Sharks are delighted to announce the appointment of RAY UNSWORTH as Academy Manager. Ray joins Sale Sharks after many successful years in Rugby League and leaves his post as Player and Coach Development Manager at Wigan RLFC to take up his new appointment.
