EAS Hydration Advice
HYDRATION
• As little as 2% dehydration leads to a reduction in sports performance by over 20%
• At 10% dehydration you cannot exercise. This level leads to serious health problems and eventual death
• Two thirds of the body is made up of water which makes it our most important nutrient
• We can survive several weeks without food, but only several days without water
• If you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated
• Dehydration worsens the more you exercise, so keeping regular fluid intake is vital
• Fluids should be taken throughout the day. 2-3 litres per day
• 1 additional litre should be consumed per kilo of weight lost through perspiration
• Most important is before, during and after exercise
• Clearly all drinks contain water, but certain ingredients such as sugar, caffeine and alcohol dehydrate further
• Better choices include; tap water, mineral water, diluted fruit juices, fruit & herb teas.
• Eating fruit and vegetables is good practice as they contain around 90% water
• Sports drinks that are hypotonic or isotonic are ideal as they hydrate more quickly and supply energy and electrolytes
EAS HYDRATION
• EAS has a special isotonic formula called ISODRIVE which contains 8% sugars plus electrolytes, b-vitamins, taurine and chromium.
• Electrolytes replace lost minerals, whilst taurine and chromium regulate blood sugar levels. B-vitamins help release energy from the carbohydrates
• Can be used before, during and after exercise to maximise hydration and endurance. Orange or Lemon flavours
