Sale Sharks Supporters vs Altrincham FC Supporters
20/20 Cricket exhibition match to mark the opening of the 2014 Ashley Beer and Food Festival.
Friday 11th July at 5.30pm
Ashley Cricket Club
The Railway Field
Note: Beer & Food Festival takes place from 11th- 13th July.
As we wave goodbye to what has been a good season for Sale Sharks, attention turns to our summer national sport. Obvious questions on everyone's minds are whether England can recover some pride at home to Sri Lanka and India after a shambolic winter Ashes tour and whether the Sale Supporters have put to bed their only previous outing nearly a decade ago when they were all out for a score which wouldn't have troubled a primary school maths class? There can be no doubt that we need to restore pride on this occasion.
To that effect we are issuing a call to ALL Sale supporters (not just SSSC members): Can you bat or bowl? Do you know your willow from your bails or that a Doosra isn't the spicy option down the local Tandoori and that a follow on isn't what happens naturally after a trip to the said curry house? Are you aware that a dolly and a maiden aren't just outdated slang terms for women, a rabbit isn't just a cute animal and a Nelson isn't necessarily referring to a famous sailor? If yes, WE NEED YOU! Calling all Sale fans with even the slightest cricketing ability to put their names down. If we get more than 11 we'll hold some sort of pre-social, social night which can double as a trial although if last time is anything to go by we'll also need someone to look after the various walking frames, sticks and mobility scooters whilst we're out in the field. Spread the word, especially if you're mates with Jimmy Anderson or Freddy Flintoff (with the magic of photo shop I'm sure we'll be able to produce evidence that they're lifelong fans).
Even if you think that "how's that" is what you'd ask the bar maid when passing over the correct change for your round or 'caught behind' is what happens when you pass a pint back in a crowded bar and 'out for a duck' means popping down the local Chinese for the crispy duck, we still need to you to come down and cheer on YOUR supporters team, whilst obviously trying out the numerous ales on offer.
Full details of the match and the Beer and Food festival will be posted on here when the details are confirmed nearer the time but keep the date free in your diary and sign up as of now for our team by emailing me at email@example.com
so I can keep you in the loop.
PS, this is the weekend of the Football World Cup Final so a terrific curtain raiser to a weekend of sporting excellence.
