On Wednesday 25th July, the first of the Lancashire Development Centre Summer Coaching Seminars took place at Burnley RUFC. Pete Anglesea, Sale Sharks Academy Transition Coach, delivered an excellent session to 29 Coaches from sixteen clubs across the county. The Burnley first XV Squad took part in the practical session and were coached in cutting edge technical methods at the contact area, as used at International and Premiership levels of the game.
Mark Nelson, the Development Centre Manager said, " This is fantastic stuff, we are exposing our club coaches and therefore our club players to these innovative and highly effective modern methods of coaching and managing technical and tactical issues within the game. Pete gave a great insight into how players should react and adapt to the contact area. The coaches and Burnley players took away a massive amount of information and knowledge from the session. I would also congratulate Burnley on hosting the event. They are a very well organised club, delivering rugby in a soccer mad area."
Speaking after Saturday's Singha Premiership 7's event, captain James Mitchell knows there will be plenty to be wary of at Friday's Singha Premiership Rugby 7s final, but says Sale Sharks are up for the challenge.
