In windy conditions, we decided to play into the wind first half and take the game to Worcester. Bar an early infringement, we managed to control the ball well for 30 minutes and scored a good team try. A lapse in defence cost us dearly, with a very good finish from Warrior winger David Lemi. We went in at half time 16-8 down but the team talk was positive and, with the wind at our backs, we felt confident about making up the point difference and more in the second half.
Some concerted pressure in the second half didn't really produce as many points as it should have, before we managed to level the score with about an hour gone. Personally, it's at this point that we should have taken the game away from Worcester and build on our momentum, but instead we allowed them back into the game with mistakes that led to a driven maul and a try.
The last 10 minutes saw us camped on their line and credit must go to them for some good defence, but it was not without infringement, which we felt deserved more than just penalties, but the referee saw otherwise. Either way, there were further opportunities which we must be more clinical in taking and we, as players, take responsibility for that.
It was a bitterly disappointing evening as we were the better team for large parts of the game, but did not take advantage of the pressure we created. The result now puts even more importance on our upcoming home game against London Irish this Friday. A game which is simply about a win and a game that we will make sure we are ready for!
