Tomorrow will see the launch of the new HITZ Bolton project. This is the latest HITZ project to be established under Sale Sharks, alongside the existing programmes in Manchester, Carrington and Rochdale.
The new programme in Bolton is a collaboration between Sharks Community Trust, Premiership Rugby and the training provider, NACRO. The scheme will provide young people in Bolton between the ages of 16-18 who are not currently in employment or education with a chance to gain new qualifications in a sporting environment.
The young people on the new programme will be able to improve their English and Maths, work towards qualifications in both sport and retain and get some useful employability skills. The classroom sessions will be led by NACRO tutors, and as part of the experience, they will also get a chance to take part daily in a number of sporting activities, led by the HITZ Bolton Officer, Mark Doherty.
The launch will take place at Bolton Rugby Club where the new programme is based and will feature a presentation from some of the learners about what they feel the benefits are in being part of the HITZ programme.
Tom Leader, Sharks HITZ Manager said, "We are really excited to be working with NACRO and Premiership Rugby to launch the new HITZ programme in Bolton. Sale Sharks has always had a strong relationship with Bolton Rugby Club and this partnership means that we can now work with young people in Bolton to provide them with qualifications and new experiences, which will hopefully allow them to go on to get a job or an apprenticeship".
