Here is the school children with one of our Community Coaches in a Tag Rugby Session.
Our Sharks Community Trust have been busy over the last month at Northenden Community Primary School teaching the Tackling Numbers Programme, run by Aviva Premiership.
Aviva Tackling Numbers is an innovative and engaging programme for Key Stage 2 children, which makes learning about numbers fun, exciting and rewarding. Delivered by the 12 Premiership Rugby Clubs across England and available online, this rugby themed programme integrates interactive classroom maths sessions with practical, number-based rugby games. Rugby is used to deliver a range of numeracy challenges in a new and exciting way.
Over the last month, our Sharks Community Trust coaches have been going to Northenden Community Primary School and delivered the Tackling Numbers programme by introducing tag rugby to the students and also delivering mathematics with the context of Sale Sharks rugby club. There was a dual delivery to two classes within the school, each receiving one hour tag rugby and one hour mathematics.
Miss Gray, a teacher at Northenden, said: "For them to learn from an expert on rugby has been brilliant. It was great to have a sports expert in to teach the children another invasion type game. I would highly recommend this programme to other schools."
