Chris Cusiter told the Manchester Evening News that he believes that Saturday's win over Northampton Saints has set a template for the rest of the season.
Saturday's win was all the more satisfying for Sale coming a fortnight after they allowed a 15-point advantage to be snatched from their grasp as they lost out to Leicester. Though in eighth place in the Premiership table, Sale are just two points off the top four.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News after Saturday's game he said: "What was really pleasing was that we managed to finish the game off. We felt such disappointment after the Leicester loss with that huge crowd there. So to knock a top team off here was such a great feeling.
"We've been in that position a few times here but ended up losing against Leicester and Munster where we lost big leads having deserved to win.
"Going in at half-time on Saturday we knew we would be against the wind in the second half but the forwards were great and we caused Northampton all sort of problems and took the game away from them, so it was really satisfying.
"At home our form has been really good and consistent and we're really tough to beat. Teams don't like coming here, we have a real physicality and our backs create all sorts of problem for teams. But away from home we're inconsistent I guess.
"We've had some great wins but also some games where we've been nowhere near.So Saturday was a badly needed four points because, given the other results at the weekend, it's so congested in that middle area.
"We're in a great position but now we've got to keep that momentum going."
He also praised his half-back partner Danny Cipriani: "I don't think anyone can take the ball to the line as well as Danny. If they (England) are not going to start him he's the type of guy you can bring off the bench as with that pace and that ability he can change a game.
"As he showed on Saturday, he's brilliant on the front foot and he can manipulate defences by taking the ball right to the line.
"For me he's great to play with. He has that attacking ability and he demands a lot of the players around him as he knows how to attack and he's a top player."
