The festival and teacher education session was part of theTackling Numbers Programme in partnership with MBNA that the Sharks community team have been doing over the last six weeks. The programme has incorporated a classroom based session on Maths with a rugby link and a tag rugby session to get the children more active and also learn a new sport of rugby.
The programme has been running for the six weeks leading up to a tag rugby festival which has seen over 200 children at the event putting their new skills to the test. Some of the schools in attendance were, St Johns Chorlton, The Willows, Bollin Primary, St Francis, Abbey Hey, Cheetwood Primary, Clifton Primary, St Cuthbert's, St Johns Boscoe.
Also as part of the programme the community team ran a teacher education session so the teachers in the schools can carry on coaching tag rugby after the programme is finished. The Sharks has also given the school some tags and rugby balls to help them with equipment in the schools.
Sale Sharks would also like to thank Broughton Park Rugby Club for the use of excellent facilities and pitches and hopefully we will be back in the near future.
