Around 100 members of MBNA staff turned out to compete in the lender's annual touch rugby tournament involving members of the Sharks first team squad.
Held at MBNA's offices in Chester, and with fantastic weather for the first time in three years, the staff teams were led by team mentors Nathan Hines, Dan Braid, Jon Mills, Dave Seymour, Ross Harrison, Sam Tuitupou, Marc Jones, Nick Macleod, Vadim Cobilas, Mark Cueto and Tom Arscott.
With each team playing four matches each in their individual pools, the top two teams battled it out for overall bragging rights. Nuffield Ninjas (last year's winners) and Finance and the Lawtons took to the field, but after eight minutes with no score, the game was deadlocked. It went to sudden death and, following several attempts by both sides, Finance and the Lawtons were crowned the eventual winners.
The winning team received tickets to the Sale Sharks v Worcester friendly match on 23rd August.
The event was managed by Rich Graham, Programme Director at Nuffield Health and Wellbeing, which runs a centre based at MBNA's offices. It was organised and managed by staff from the Sharks Community Trust.
MBNA is the principal partner of Sale Sharks and is currently working with the Sharks Community Trust to deliver financial education to key stage 3 pupils throughout the north west of England and north Wales. You can find out more about the Number Cruncherz programme by clicking here.
