Sharks Community Trust have been delivering the programme for 3 years, during which time over 1, 200 Year 4 primary pupils from Chester, Stockport and Greater Manchester have received interactive numeracy sessions in the classroom and practical number-based rugby games, teaching children maths and financial literacy.
Sharks Community Trust Rugby Development Officer, Rick Spencer said 'Tackling Numbers is a brilliant way of using the power of rugby to promote the understanding and learning of numeracy, in a fun and exciting way and the children clearly enjoy it."
Developed by Premiership Rugby, in partnership with MBNA, Tackling Numbers is supported and delivered to schools across the country by all 12 Premiership Rugby teams. The programme includes 6 weeks of Numeracy and Rugby sessions, Teacher Education and a set of rugby equipment, so that the school can continue the programme.
