Their season started with a difficult fixture against Lymm High School, where they narrowly came out victorious in a 12-10 battle, with Ike McCormick winning the Man of the Match award.
Their next few fixtures were against local rivals, which saw them beating Manchester Grammar School 39-0, Woodhouse Grove 37-0, and Yorkshire opponents QUGS Wakefield 19-15.
In these first four games, the club scored a massive 107 points, conceding a mere 25, which is impressive by anyone's standards, Year 7s especially.
The U12s have since gone on to beat Nottingham HS, Adams GS, Stonyhurst College and their latest scalp was Denstone College. Half-back pairing of Remy Miller and Murray Redpath have been superb in a very talented back line, whilst the back row of James Davis, Ike McCormick and captain Oli Leatherbarrow have been outstanding!
A few brilliant displays from B team centre Charlie Ward saw him drafted into the A team and it is now a battle between him and flying winger Tom Barker for top points scorer. The current squad have played 9, won 9, scored 364 and only conceded 40 leaving them currently the only undefeated side in the school this year. The signs look promising for the future of King's rugby and this current crop of talented individuals should enjoy plenty of success in their time at Kings with a number of 1st XV players in the making!
The club has now only lost three games this season, against Warwick, Stockport, and most recently St Ambrose.
The Sale Sharks Community Trust would like to congratulate King's School, Macclesfield for their stellar performances this season, and wish them the best of luck as they move forward.
