Further to the recent competition for two individuals to win a place on a Premiership Rugby Camp, we are pleased to award the winning places to Abi Birkbeck from Blackburn Rugby Club and Will Smith from St Monica's Primary Tag Team.
The places have been donated by Land Rover, the Official Vehicle of Premiership Rugby, who support rugby at every level, from grassroots all the way to the elite of the sport, as the Official Vehicle of Premiership Rugby and Rugby World Cup 2015. In addition, Land Rover is the title sponsor of the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup, a festival for under 11 and under 12 age groups, and also continues to play a crucial role in the running of the Premiership Rugby Academy. Land Rover's support extends to the twelve Premiership Rugby community departments, providing each one with a Land Rover Discovery 4 to use for their work.
Sale Sharks sought entries from players aged between 6 and 15 years old, to send their details into the Community Department, for consideration to gain a place at one of our 3 day camps. Entrants were asked to let us know why they thought they deserved to win one of the camp places.
Abi, Scrum Half, who is now looking for an U13s Ladies Team won the place following her commitment to the game despite some recent set backs and Will, who plays for school only, won the place due to his love of the game and wanting to join a local rugby club to continue his rugby career.
On hearing that she had won a place, an overjoyed Abi exclaimed 'Woo Hooo!" and continued with "I can't wait to see Carrington, where the team train. Do you think I might get talent spotted? Thank you, Land Rover, for running this competition; I'm so looking forward to attending the camp." According to her mum, Abi couldn't wait to get to school to tell all her friends.
It was much the same when Will discovered his luck too. "I am very excited to have won this competition and would like to thank Sale Sharks, Land Rover and Premiership Rugby for this opportunity. I hope that I will be able to improve my skills and, maybe, get to play for Sale Sharks one day."
From the venues and dates available, both Abi and Will have elected to attend the camp at Carrington, which runs from 30th July to 1st August. Jonny Acheson, Community Manager at Sale Sharks, said how much he was looking forward to meeting the winners at the camp and hoped that both individuals were able to make good progress with their rugby career."

Michael Paterson was described by Steve Diamond as the key addition to the squad and seemed to be right in doing so. Michael mentioned it was a proud moment to see his name in the Aviva Premiership team of the year further adding to the outstanding season that Sale had enjoyed.
Having only started playing the game at school, it has become apparent that Ross Harrison is becoming the rising star for the Sharks squad. Having stated he was lucky to be where he is today, his passion and desire to succeed shone through as he continues to progress.
The draw for the LV Cup took place earlier and Sale Sharks were drawn in Pool 2 alongside Northampton,London Irish and Cardiff Blues. As in previous seasons the fixtures will be played against teams from another Group, and our fixtures see us playing against Wasps,Leicester Tigers, Newcastle Falcons and Scarlets from Pool 3.
