Further to the recent competition for two individuals to win a place on a Premiership Rugby Camp, we are pleased to award the winning places to Abi Birkbeck from Blackburn Rugby Club and Will Smith from St Monica's Primary Tag Team.
The places have been donated by Land Rover, the Official Vehicle of Premiership Rugby, who support rugby at every level, from grassroots all the way to the elite of the sport, as the Official Vehicle of Premiership Rugby and Rugby World Cup 2015. In addition, Land Rover is the title sponsor of the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup, a festival for under 11 and under 12 age groups, and also continues to play a crucial role in the running of the Premiership Rugby Academy. Land Rover's support extends to the twelve Premiership Rugby community departments, providing each one with a Land Rover Discovery 4 to use for their work.
Sale Sharks sought entries from players aged between 6 and 15 years old, to send their details into the Community Department, for consideration to gain a place at one of our 3 day camps. Entrants were asked to let us know why they thought they deserved to win one of the camp places.
Abi, Scrum Half, who is now looking for an U13s Ladies Team won the place following her commitment to the game despite some recent set backs and Will, who plays for school only, won the place due to his love of the game and wanting to join a local rugby club to continue his rugby career.
On hearing that she had won a place, an overjoyed Abi exclaimed 'Woo Hooo!" and continued with "I can't wait to see Carrington, where the team train. Do you think I might get talent spotted? Thank you, Land Rover, for running this competition; I'm so looking forward to attending the camp." According to her mum, Abi couldn't wait to get to school to tell all her friends.
It was much the same when Will discovered his luck too. "I am very excited to have won this competition and would like to thank Sale Sharks, Land Rover and Premiership Rugby for this opportunity. I hope that I will be able to improve my skills and, maybe, get to play for Sale Sharks one day."
From the venues and dates available, both Abi and Will have elected to attend the camp at Carrington, which runs from 30th July to 1st August. Jonny Acheson, Community Manager at Sale Sharks, said how much he was looking forward to meeting the winners at the camp and hoped that both individuals were able to make good progress with their rugby career."

Mark Cueto has today announced that he will retire from playing at the end of the current season. Mark is currently the All-Time Leading Try Scorer in the Aviva Premiership with 87 tries having overtaken former team mate Steve Hanley's record of 75 tries in February 2013.
Despite trailing by three points at the interval, Sale Sharks European Cup campaign ended at Thomond Park to a Munster side who were desperate to finish on a winning note after failing to qualify for the Quarter Finals.
Sale Sharks' European campaign this season has been a case of what might have been but back-row forward Mark Easter insists he and his teammates can hold their heads high even if it ends without a win.
Danny Cipriani has been called up to the England EPS Squad ahead of this season's Six Nations, and Ross Harrison has been called up for the England Saxons squad for their match against Irish Wolfhounds on Friday 30th January.
