Sharks Community Trust are looking for two enthusiastic and inspiring team players who have proven ability to plan and deliver high quality rugby/sporting and classroom based activities. You will combine your passion for sport with strong organisational, communication and administrative skills. As well as being a coach/mentor, you will also require the ability to engage positively and build relationships with challenging young people.
Hours: 13 hours per week
Salary: Hourly rate dependent on experience (to be paid via a monthly invoice and candidates will be responsible for their own tax/NI).
Reports to: Sharks HITZ Project Manager and Sale Sharks Education Manager

HITZ is a social inclusion programme that uses rugby and sport to engage and inspire young people. The HITZ Officer will be required to work with 11-19 year olds delivering community and sporting sessions to 16-19 NEET young people as well as supporting classroom based session.
The successful candidate will also be expected to help recruit, engage, retain and direct young people onto the HITZ programme and work with a training provider to do so.
The position will be based in Manchester at the YMCA Training Centre or Bolton Rugby Club.
Due to the nature of the job some evening and weekend work will be required. Applicants will ideally hold a valid driving license and have access to a suitable vehicle.
The successful applicant will be representing Sale Sharks, hence must be professional, approachable and personable at all times, promoting themselves and the club in a positive light.
To develop, in conjunction with the HITZ Project manager and the training provider , suitable sporting sessions for 16-19 year olds
To organise, set up, lead and coordinate rugby sessions at identified venues, coordinating competitions and other events as appropriate. All activities should be appropriate to the needs of the target audience and be line with the HITZ strategic aims.
To deliver and support a number of classroom sessions developed in conjunction with the Sharks HITZ Manager and the education provider.
To keep accurate monitoring records for all sessions and contribute to the gathering and analysis of evaluation information on the VIEWS system for activities and individuals within those activities.
To work in partnership with the Training Provider to recruit young people, retain, complete the course and progress them on to further education, apprenticeships or jobs.
To work with safer neighbourhood teams, youth groups, schools and other local agencies to encourage links between them to recruit and support ongoing participation and achievement by young people.
To produce update reports for the Project Manager and funding agencies and related partners as required.
Minimum Level 2 in a sports coaching award
Current DBS check to work with children and vulnerable adults
Experience of coaching within a range of environments and with a range of participants
Good understanding of the sports network in the local community
Detailed knowledge of current coaching and training processes and how to adapt and target participants according to ability
A passion for sport and an understanding of wider issues related to sport, health and education
An enthusiastic and committed individual who will 'go the extra mile' to deliver results
Good organisation and time management skills
Excellent communication and motivation skills
Valid driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle
Willingness to work flexible hours
An ability to inspire others
Other NGB Level 1 coaching awards
Level 2 RFU qualification
Degree qualified - strong academic record
Previous experience of working within a sporting environment
Experience coaching with NEET young people
Experience of working in an educational setting with knowledge of assessment and monitoring and evaluation
A valid driving license and access to own vehicle
