Back after injury was Mark Easter who has had a long road back following his shoulder injury at London Irish last November. Danny Cipriani started his first game for the club since the LV Cup Final in March.
The game flared up early on when Marc Jones and Calum Green traded punches and Andrei Ostrikov became involved too. Ostrikov was given a yellow card by referee Greg Garner for his part in the fracas.
The game was full of ferocious tackling and commitment and Leeds Carnegie were trying to press home their one man advantage. Hughes has an opportunity to open the scoring for the visitors on 11 minutes but his penalty sailed wide of the posts.
Tom Arscott opened the scoring after a lovely flowing backs move started by Cipriani after 14 minutes. The try was Tom's third in two games after his double at Fylde. Arscott converted 7-0.
Sharks attacks were subdued somewaht due to the tenacity of the Leeds defence but on the half hour both Tom Brady and Danny Cipriani had chances to score. Cipriani was held up over the line and the Sharks opted for the penalty wide right. Cipriani kicked for the line out which Sharks won and Mark Easter crashed over for a try.
