Through these programmes, the Trust has branched out to over 3,000 children in Greater Manchester, giving them a foundation in the game by developing interest in Rugby Union and making a connection with Sale Sharks.
January also saw the conclusion of the Rugby Union Fans in Training (RUFit) course. The programme; a pilot study by the University of Glasgow, took Sharks supporters on a 15 week lifestyle course targeting physical activity and diet choices. Having now completed the programme, the men are continuing on progress already made, with some keeping active by refereeing the half time tag rugby. The feedback received from the programme has been so positive, we are looking at running a second intake in the future.
With the school holidays fast approaching, the coaches are gearing up for the first rugby camps of the year starting 18th February at the Grange Junior School, Hartford. This will then be followed by rugby camps in the Easter Holidays, based at Crewe & Nantwich RUFC (8th - 10th April) and Lymm RUFC (15th - 17th April).
