Sale Sharks Summer Rugby Camps: Bookings now being taken
We are delighted so say that due to the fantastic success of our previous camp, Sharks Community Trust are running their popular Rugby Camps over the Summer Holidays.
Each 3 day camp is available to all children from 6-15 years old, ie in the U7s-U16s age groups. As well as those children already playing rugby, we welcome new players too in the younger age groups. Children in the U7s and U8s age group will be coached in Tag rugby, alongside other sporting activities, whilst those in the U9s+ age groups will be coached in the appropriate rugby skills for their age group.
Give your child the chance to experience top-quality rugby coaching, in a professional environment. The Sharks Community Trust coaches, who run the camps, are all qualified to the national governing body (RFU), have 1st aid qualifications, as well as the CRB/DBS disclosures.
Each camp includes:
* Expert Coaching by RFU-Qualified Coaches
* Visit to the camp by Sale Sharks players for autographs, Q&A's about being a professional sportsman and photograph opportunities
* Sharks memorabilia
* Ticket to a Sale Sharks home match
* No players' visit at this camp.
All camps start at 9.00 am and end at 3.30 pm
Our Annual Residential Camp (5 days) is to be held at Myerscough College from Monday 11th August until Friday 15th August 2014 and the price of £325 includes all accommodation and meals, as well as the coaching. Myerscough College boasts a 4th Generation IRB Accredited Pitch as well as a gym, classrooms, halls of residence and excellent catering facilities.
The specialist rugby coaching is designed by the Sharks Academy Coaches and gives young rugby players aged between 13 and 17 years an insight into life as a professional rugby player. There will be additional opportunities to benefit from rugby analysis, nutrition, and strength and conditioning sessions in the gym included.
A typical day will start around 9.00 am following breakfast, with sessions on Strength and Conditioning, Continuity Skills, Position Specific Skills, Pilates, Unit Skills, Matches, Nutrition, and Match Analysis before a light supper and lights out around 10.30 pm.
For the first time, we are also holding a 1 day Women's Rugby camp for all players or aspiring players. Girls in the age groups U13s and above are welcome (U12s and below are still able to play in the mini and junior sections with the boys). This camp will be led by Darren Lamon, who, as well as working full time for Sharks Community Trust, is the North of England Academy coach for the Seniors, U18s and U15s women's teams. Women's rugby is one of the fastest growing sports and the Trust are proactively supporting the development of women's rugby around the region.
