Sharks Community Trust is pleased to announce the development of two new HITZ education programmes, building on the existing success of the current HITZ programmes in Partington and Rochdale.
The first new programme will be based in Leigh, and will work in partnership with a number of local agencies, including Groundwork, Trust in Leigh and Leigh Sports Village where the programme will be based. The programme will be managed by a new HITZ Officer, Chris Johnston who joins the HITZ team after working at a similar programme at NACRO in Leeds.
The second programme, which will be known as HITZ Salford will be based at Eccles Rugby Club, close to the AJ Bell Stadium. This will help to increase the presence of Sale Sharks in the area, and to develop stronger links with Eccles RUFC who have always been a strong supporter of the club. HITZ Salford will be managed by our newest HITZ Officer, Aaron Phelps who joins the club after working at the University of Salford and for the Manchester City FC KICKZ programme.
Both programmes will deliver a mixture of educational and sporting opportunities to young people who are not currently in employment, education and training. The aim of the course which was developed in partnership with Premiership Rugby is to help provide them with a range of experiences and qualifications for the participants, alongside a guaranteed work experience placement to help improve their chances of gaining a job or an apprenticeship.
If you are a business who is interested to work with the programme to provide work experience opportunities in the area, or if you know of a young person who may be interested in the programme, then please contact Tom Leader, Sale Sharks HITZ Manager on 07415 859535 or email
