This means that Aviva Premiership clubs will be visiting the 12,500 capacity, all-seater Kassam Stadium, Oxford to play games against newly-promoted London Welsh during the coming season.
When students head for the 'city of dreaming spires', they 'go up' to Oxford, regardless of where they live. Sale Sharks and their supporters will soon find out when they will be 'going up', as the 2012-13 fixtures are announced tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon.
The Stadium is removed from the historic university centre, located four miles south of the city. Sale Sharks hold happy memories of the venue, having twice captured European silverware there: the 2002 Parker Pen Shield and the 2005 European Challenge Cup.
The journey from Salford City Stadium to the Kassam is 162 miles, mainly along the M.6 and M.40. Directions: Leave the M40 at junction 8a. Follow A40 to the first roundabout. Take first exit towards Cowley and Newbury A34 and follow the brown football signs which will take you to the stadium.
Footnote: With London Welsh joining London Irish in the Aviva Premiership, there has been some debate in Media circles about whom should be called The Exiles. One enlightened source in the Northampton area has suggested that the Welsh should be known as 'The Wexiles'.
