Since joining up with Sale Sharks in November from Super League Champions Wigan Warriors, Josh Charnley has admitted he has been surprised to have made so many appearances for the first team.
The Chorley-born winger has gone on to make 14 appearances for the side, scoring two tries, and has loved his first season in the union code.
He said: "When I first came to the club I never thought that I would have played as many matches as I have done. It's been great putting on the Sale Sharks jersey this season and I have enjoyed playing my part for the team."
Josh Charnley replaced the injured Byron McGuigan in the 15th minute and scored an all-important third try for the Sharks in the second half: "It was good that we managed to finish the season on a high as we had worked hard all week in the build up to this match so getting the win was what we fully deserved."
"We were very dominant in large parts of the game and we managed to put them under lots of pressure which is what we had been hoping to do."
"I saw the space in the corner when I received the pass and my instinct is to attack it. It was great that I managed to get a try today which in the end resulted in an important one for the team."
Despite a strong attacking performance from Sale, Josh was full of praise for the forwards who he said have been incredible all season: "The forwards have played a massive role for us this season especially when they are doing lots of work to retain the ball. They put another big shift against Bath, like they have been doing in lots of other games and it was great as a team that we got the win."
Charnley also acknowledged the support from the fans that he and the club have received this season, saying they've been important figures this season, both home and away:"The fans were great today as they have been all season. We hope that they continue that level support next season and continue acting as the 16th man in games which gives a massive lift whilst playing.
"They have made my time so far in union enjoyable and I have enjoyed playing here. I have had a busy season with things both on the pitch and off the pitch so I'm looking forward to a bit of time off before coming back next season."
