Chris Jones signs autographs for kids on "Coaching You" programme

Chris Jones trains youngsters in Sharks’ “Coaching You” programme

Sale Sharks community team have been coaching tag rugby to St Philips Catholic Primary in Offerton for the last twelve weeks as part of the after schools programme “Coaching You”. The school also had a visit from Sale Sharks player Chris Jones who took time out of busy schedule to coach the kids. Chris joined in on the warm up and the tag rugby session before signing autographs.

All the attendees that completed this “Coaching You” programme received Sale Sharks goodies including a visit from Sharky and a free match ticket to watch a Sale Sharks play a home game at Edgeley Park to watch their hero’s.

Chris also presented a signed rugby ball from all the Sale Sharks rugby players to Ruby Kinder in support of his seventeen year old cousin, Terri Noon, who was diagnosed with leukaemia when she was just five months old.

Unfortunately Terri was diagnosed with a brain tumour last month and is undergoing treatment with a critical course of chemotherapy in December.

Her Auntie, Victoria Kinder, and sister, Shannon Noon, were sponsored to shave their hair off last week, due to Terri losing her hair after treatment. Half of the money raised will go to When You Wish Upon A Star, a charity that grants children with severe illnesses their wishes, and the other half will go to The Christie’s Young Oncology Unit Activity Fund, who take their patients on free days out for social activities.

We hope the money raised from raffling the signed ball from the Sale Sharks players will help both charities.

A spokesperson from the school said, “The kids and the staff have really enjoyed Sale Sharks after school club so much so we’ve rebooked for the following term!”
