Jets just two points short of the Tigers

In their final Guinness 'A' League match this season, Sale Jets lost 24-26 at Heywood Road to an experienced Tigers team, who duly topped the Northern group. Both sides scored four tries apiece. Although the Jets held a 10-7 half time lead, three Tiger tries within a twelve minute spell settled the game, although the home side replied in spirited fashion. Chris Bell returned from injury, played the first half and reported no ill effects.

Match report
Next follows a moment of history: the Cheshire RFU Cup Final at Lymm on Wednesday 28th April (7 p.m.). In their first year in the tournament, by invitation, the Jets have beaten worthy opponents in Stockport and Macclesfield. Lymm, celebrating their 50th season, are champions of League North One West and will be looking to continue their success in this showpiece occasion.
