Dwayne Peel in action against Saints
Improved performance was not enough against the Saints
Sunday, March 7th 2010
Sale Sharks lost 7-15 to Northampton Saints at Edgeley Park and fell one place to twelfth in the Guinness Premiership. In a strange first half, six penalty attempts were missed, four by Myler, before Diggin scored a try two minutes before the break, allowing Reihana to convert for a 0-7 half time scoreline.
Ashton scored try two for the Saints after 49 minutes. Geraghty, his club's third kicker of the afternoon, slotted over a 65th minute penalty.
The Sharks' late reply came through Cohen with four minutes to go. Hodgson converted, and, had his last ditch penalty not struck a post, might have rescued a losing bonus point for the team.
That game in hand, home to London Wasps on Friday week, assumes ever greater importance.
