Sharks slip up at Sandy Park and Kingsley has some stern words to say...

Saturday, August 22nd 2009

Sale Sharks were always behind against Exeter Chiefs, and lost a well-contested game 20-25, even though they scored three tries - from Chris Bell, Lee Thomas and Marika Vakacegu - to Chiefs' lone reply from Chad Slade.

Chiefs sent six penalties over, four from fly half Gareth Steenson. The Chiefs are clearly going to be promotion contenders again, and will be visiting Edgeley Park next Friday (7.30 p.m.) to see if they can repeat the dose. If this competitive encounter is anything to go by, it should be another gripping game.

Following the defeat, Director of Rugby Kingsley Jones had some stern words to say about the performance. He said, “ Our game management was poor as was our discipline. We are scoring more tries than the opposition in games but we are giving away too many kickable penalties. It is something we will be working on with the players ahead of the return match next Friday evening.”
