Sisa Koyamaibole - scored second try of the season
Sharks two points short against Saracens
Sunday, December 6th 2009
Sale Sharks leave a rainswept Vicarage Road this evening with their heads held high after gaining a bonus point as unbeaten leaders Saracens narrowly win 15 – 13.
Saracens had to wrestle the Sharks right to the end in the driving rain after Fijian flanker Sisaro Koyamaibole scored the only try of the game in the first half and Vice Captain Charlie Hodgson brought Sharks’ total up with two penalties and a conversion.
The Sharks showed great determination, injected pace into the game, had the better half of the scrums and were structured in their drives.
Earlier last week, Director of Rugby Kingsley Jones commented on the possibility of gaining a bonus point from the Saracen’s match: “I will be pleased in one respect with a losing point if the worst comes to the worst and we have lost. It will be some consolation.”
After the match Kingsley told reporters, “It was a disappointing result, but we can only get better. We will be taking a lot of positives from the game into our next away game against Harlequins.”
Fly-half Derick Hougaard kicked Saracens into the lead with five penalties.
