Will Cliff & Ed Styles In New Zealand

Its Will and Ed here from New Zealand just thought we would send you guys a quick email to report back on what’s happening over here.

We’ve been here almost 3 weeks now, arriving on Tuesday 26th May, we are at a Club called College Rifles it’s located in Remuera about 10 minutes by car from the centre of Auckland. The facilities at the club are brilliant they have 2 full size rubber crumb pitches which the home games are played on and a new state if the art gym, which means we can do all of our training.

The club is a reasonable standard, similar to Rotherham back home or a mid table National One side. They play in the Premier league in Auckland. So far we have played 3 games, the first one for the reserves which we won quite comfortably, I (Will) played half the game at 10 and goal kicked… that’s how easy it was (although I did land 13 points with the boot haha!!) Stylesy played 15 making line breaks for fun.

We then got promoted to the Premier Side (1st team) which were unfortunately going through a losing spell, until now... we have now won the past two games with us playing… some might say thanks to the English boys but we wouldn’t like to comment! We both managed to get on the score sheet this week as well so things are going well.

Outside of rugby, well we managed to get given a car by a man from the Cook Islands who we just hitched a lift with, sounds dodgy but its all ok… a long story! Were living just down the road from the club in a little 2 bedroom cabin so got a good set up! We’ve done a little bit of sight seeing but not too much yet, travelled down to a place the Kiwi’s call Rotor Vegas (the name says it all) and went to the top of sky tower here in Auckland which gives you a really good view of the city… we were given the option to jump off it but haven’t managed to pluck up the courage yet, may do before we return home though!

Will keep you updated anyway, we are going to try to return back in time for the pre-season tour to France!
