Another of the bright young things in the first-team squad to have progressed from the academy set-up, Fowles made his first 10 appearances for the club while still a teenager. A successful loan spell at Preston Grasshoppers in 2011-12 saw him named in the National League Two North Team of the Year and he spent the summer of 2012, along with Sam James, at Border Bulldogs competing in the Under-21 Currie Cup. He made six appearances for the Sharks last season, taking his tally to 17, though only two were in the starting XV.
