A fan favourite Eifion Lewis-Roberts returned to the club in the summer of 2012, after a year playing under former Sharks DoR Philippe Saint-Andre at French club Toulon.

The former dairy farmer initially joined the Sharks in 2005, from Rhuthun in his Welsh homeland and made his debut late that year, after progressing through the Jets system.

Eifion was the heaviest player in the Premiership and earned the nickname ‘Fridge’ for his destructive carrying in the loose and powerful scrummaging.

He was reunited with Saint-Andre after opting to join Toulon in the summer of 2011 but 12 months later, he returned to Sale by signing a three-year contract.

On signing the Welshman, Steve Diamond said: “He’s a very popular lad here. He knows the club well and I know that he will be a big crowd favourite once more."

Lewis-Roberts won his solitary Wales cap as a replacement against Canada in 2008.
