Signed on a three-year deal in November 2013, Fihaki joined the Sharks from New Zealand provincial side North Harbour. Capped five times by Tonga, the strapping back-rower filled the void left by the departure of Andy Powell to Wigan Warriors. He made a strong impression in his first season at the AJ Bell, scoring three tries in 11 appearances, and bagged another three in nine appearances in 2014-15. That came as no surprise after Steve Diamond said on signing Fihaki: “He is a very good ball carrier. We believe he will be a really good addition to our ranks and that he will add something extra to the squad."
