Player Biog

Handed the captaincy in his debut season at the club, Sam Tuitupou led the Sharks back into the Heineken Cup, making 23 appearances and forming a formidable centre partnership with Johnny Leota.

Recruited from Irish giants Munster, along with prop Tony Buckley, Sam came with a rich pedigree.

Born in Auckland, he was a World Cup winner with New Zealand’s U21s and has gone on to receive nine caps from the All Blacks. He also won the Super 14s crown with the Blues, along with the Air New Zealand Cup with Auckland, before moving to Worcester five years ago.

His explosive pace and power made ‘Hacksaw Sam’ a huge favourite at Sixways, before he crossed the Irish Sea in the summer of 2010 to join Munster following Worcester’s relegation.

He made a big impact there as he has done in the first 12 months of his Sale career and he will serve as new captain David Seymour’s understudy as the Sharks look to build on last season’s sixth-place finish.
