Along with Vadim Cobilas, Andrei Ostrikov was one of two Eastern European signings made by Steve Diamond in his first summer back at Sharks.
Recruited from French second division side Aurillac, Andrei was the eighth new forward recruited by Diamond in the summer of 2011 as he overhauled the Sharks pack to good effect.
The Russian missed the first three months of the season with a back injury and whilst on World Cup duty, but made his belated debut in the Amlin Cup win at Agen. He followed this up with a barnstorming Edgeley Park debut, where he helped the Sharks record a quickfire Amlin double over the Top 14 side.
Andrei was the second of his countrymen to sign a professional contract with an English team after Vasili Artemiev joined Northampton.
