Described as a “great addition” by Steve Diamond, when he crossed the Pennines from Leeds in the summer of 2011, Hendre endured a hugely frustrating first season, as injury wrecked his hopes of making an immediate impact at Sale.
One of four players to move to Sale from Leeds after their relegation from the Premiership, he managed just 124 minutes of first-team action for the Sharks due to shoulder trouble.
Howvever, he entered pre-season in high spirits and will hope to make an impact this season.
Hendre’s rise in the English game has been remarkable. He arrived in the country in 2005 with Rotherham as a part-timer, and within five years, was an England international.
Leeds recruited him from the Titans in 2007 and after catching the eye of the national selectors, he played for the Saxons, before making his Test debut in the 2010 Autumn internationals.
