Stockport Schools Programme Legacy
Sale Sharks Community Case Studies
The scheme has also helped young rugby players and schools develop links with the local rugby clubs in the area. Stockport Rugby Club has reported a 65% increase in mini and junior membership since Sale Sharks moved to Stockport in August 2003.
Whilst Heaton Moor Rugby Club has also seen an equal increase in members and have even added three new sides to their mini and junior sections. The amateur club attributes the increase in player numbers to the Sale Sharks Primary Link programme sponsored by Sharks’ main sponsor AMD and Sportsmatch. According to the club's community officer Mike Bolland, “Without a shadow of a doubt, with Sale moving to Stockport and with their coaches going into schools and the community, our mini and youth section has increased by three new age groups – U8’s, U9’s and U10’s.”
Heaton Moor have also become one of the best supporters of Sale Sharks. The club have purchased enough tickets through the Sharks Club Kitback Scheme that they will be receiving a new scrum machine for the start of the 2005.06 Season.

Heaton Moor players celebrate the achievement of their new scrum machine.
