EAS offers a wide range of high-quality, science-based, doping-free tested sports nutrition to help athletes achieve their performance, endurance, fitness and nutrition goals. Its diverse range of drinks, bars and supplements provide tried, tested and trusted sports nutrition designed to be taken before, during and after exercise.

EAS has been Sale’s sports nutrition partner for five years: scrum half Richard Wigglesworth is the current brand ambassador. The players all enjoy Myoplex drinks and bars: comprising high-grade proteins enriched with up to 24 vitamins and minerals, Myoplex promotes muscle growth and helps to guard against nutritional deficiencies brought on by tough sessions. The players also take Phosphagen Elite creatine drink to fuel their explosive power and muscular endurance while offsetting lactic acid build up. And Muscle Armor to enjoy muscle protection and development while offsetting fatigue and muscle break down.

“EAS is an integral factor that enables the players to endure tough training and tougher match days,” says Peter Finch, head of physical preparation. “EAS supplements help the players guard against fatigue and minimise muscle damage so they may recover fully and fast.”

Dave Bell, Performance Director, and Andi Willacy, Sports Therapist, work directly with the Sale Sharks squad.

Dave is a Strength & Sports Conditioning specialist who set up the Perform Centre in Rossendale to bring professional training to games players / athletes who want to improve their sports performances by training sports specific. He's worked in Premiership Rugby Union with NEC Harlequins and Bristol Rugby in the capacity as head of Strength & Conditioning; he is also a British Weight Lifting Coach and a sports psychologist.

Dave is no stranger to Sale Sharks as his eldest son Chris is a regular 1st team member and his youngest son Tommy is a recent addition to the Sharks Academy, and is currently a member of the England U18’s Conference squad.

Since opening, the Perform Centre has welcomed many national and international performers into its training facility, in May of this year we trained Andrew Sheridan prior to his departure to South Africa with the Lions squad. He used the state of the art altitude training facilities to acclimatise for the competition.

We are currently training a number of the injured Sharks players assisting them in getting back to playing by means of altitude training. Charlie Hodgson, Kristian Ormsby, Sean Cox, and Dwayne Peel have all experienced the delights of the Altitude Chamber. All of these players are either back playing or will be back playing shortly and are ahead of the predicted times due to the accelerated healing nature of training in a desaturated oxygen environment.

The Perform Centre is ideally suited to accommodating full squads / teams or individual members, if you want to train where the professionals train and be trained as a professional trains contact Dave at the Perform Centre 0845 330 2117 or info@performcentre.co.uk

The Old Clinic

Philip qualified over 25 years ago as a traditional osteopath. He runs a busy clinic where he has been able to incorporate other disciplines such as physiotherapy, acupuncture, homoeopathy, hypnotherapy and massage.

On asking Philip about his specialist interests he says, “I see many professional sportsmen in an attempt to reduce the likelihood of them developing injuries by allowing their bodies to be in a state of balance whilst under duress.”

He openly admits, “Unlike many Osteopaths I enjoy working with physiotherapists whether they are with Sale Sharks or MUFC. I see the two professions entirely with differing roles to play. Physiotherapists have much more experience and technology available to them to repair damaged or injured tissues, whether they be sustained during the game or after surgery, whereas I am more mechanical in looking for restrictions that may be contributing to the problem occurring in the first instance. Many players, both from football and rugby come to me on a frequent basis, even before any injury takes place. This is because after a treatment players often report that they feel free in their bodies and lighter on their feet.”
