SHARKS NEIGHBOURS: Trust coaches rally to provide support to the whole community during school closures and self-isolation recommendations.

In light of the current situation, activities at local rugby clubs have been halted, Advantage education learners will revert to home learning, matchday activities and rugby camps are postponed until further notice and delivery in schools is likely to cease due to school closures.

Sale Sharks has the best fans and community in the country and now it’s time for us to play our part by giving something back.  As part of our responsibility to our fans and the community we are proud to be able to offer the following as part of our Sharks Neighbours Programme:

  • Free home learning resources for Primary School aged children
  • Free remote sports sessions resources for schools as they continue to support vulnerable children and those of key workers.
  • Free remote physical activity plans for care homes
  • Phone calls to our elderly members and vulnerable community groups to check on their well-being and keep them company (remotely) as they self-isolate
  • Safe delivery of any essential home products and groceries
  • Rugby skill activities for individual skill development
  • Physical activity workouts to ensure we all stay physically active
  • Online challenges and competitions to win exclusive Sharks visits

If you, or someone you know, is in need of support during this difficult period, please contact community@salesharks.com or 01616729928

Alison Warwood, Executive Director at Sharks Community Manager said, “As schools close and older people are asked to stay indoors this is a difficult time for everyone.  We want to support our communities in the ways we know best – by helping people stay active, by reducing social isolation, helping out in our community and by providing activities for schools and children.  Our fantastic team of coaches are ready to go and to help anyone in the community that needs it.  We would urge you to get in contact with us to see how we can help and support everyone in this difficult time.

Des Howlett, Education Manager at Sharks Community Manager said, “As many children finish school for the foreseeable future and will transition to home learning, we understand the challenges faced for both children and parents. We want to support this difficult time with cross curricular learning and their interest in rugby to use this as a way to creatively learn. We will be using our in-house skill set of qualified teachers within our workforce to offer a selection of learning resources.”
