Today, Friday July 10th, Premiership Rugby confirmed that Harlequins and Sale Sharks will play at the Twickenham Stoop in the first Gallagher Premiership fixture since the season was suspended.
The AJ Bell Stadium will see its first action when the top two in the current standings take on each other. Second place Sale Sharks take on top of the table Exeter Chiefs on Friday 21st August.
We then have a short turnaround to play Wasps at the Ricoh Stadium on Tuesday 25th August.
Our final confirmed fixture is another top of the table battle with Sale Sharks taking on Bristol Bears, who are currently third in the Gallagher Premiership, at the AJ Bell Stadium on Saturday 29th August.
Kick-off times and whether games are to be screened on BT Sport, or available to stream, are yet to be confirmed. We are also awaiting clarity on whether we will be able to welcome supporters to any of the fixtures. Having the Sharks Family cheering us on means so much to the team, but we can only do this when it is aligned to government guidelines and it is safe for everyone involved. We thank our fans for the patience they have already shown and the offers of support for the club – you continue to show us what a special club we have. Once we have clarity on whether games will be available to fans, we’ll be in touch with our season members and match ticket holders.
Steve Diamond, Director of Rugby, Sale Sharks added: “It’s fantastic that we have the opportunity to return to play after such a long lay-off, I think everyone across the league is chomping at the bit to get going again. It’s been a turbulent period for everyone, but as a club we feel we have come out of the other end of this period stronger than ever.
“We have a top bunch of players here and all the lads have put their hands up and worked hard for the club during our return to play preparations, we are ready and raring to go so I think it will be a great occasion at The Stoop on Friday 14 August.”
Sale Sharks are still awaiting confirmation on when the Premiership Rugby Cup Final against Harlequins will be rescheduled.
