Job Summary
As part of the Rugby Development team for Sharks Community Trust you will be responsible for supporting a range of Trust programmes, focusing on school programmes such as Tackling Health, Project Rugby and Development Camps.
Over the course of the apprenticeship you will support and develop the work of the trust whilst developing your own skills as a coach. This will include developing your coaching philosophy, effective coaching and facilitating learning and learning environments.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Delivering and co-developing the Trust’s Rugby Union programmes in the North West. Aspects of the role include:
• To support and develop high quality sport and Rugby Union sessions to a range of participants with varying abilities and experiences. This will include novice players and experienced players of all ages.
• To work within the Rugby Development team to develop planning and delivery skills for high quality sport and Rugby Union sessions across the range of Schools based programs; Tag Rugby, Contact Rugby, and Mixed Ability Rugby.
• Deliver high quality education programs in both Primary and Secondary School settings to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum at all levels.
• To work with Sharks Community Trust staff on the Rugby Development Camps to develop coaching philosophy whilst developing effective coaching in line with the Trust’s player centered and game based coaching philosophy.
• To develop relationships with stakeholders to develop links with grassroots clubs to allow individuals the opportunity to progress within their sport.
• Plan and co-ordinate Rugby Union delivery at Sale Sharks home matches to offer high quality match day experiences.
• Supporting the development of additional Rugby Camp activity.
• Support and develop administration skills in order to complete Monitoring and Evaluation elements of the projects including keeping accurate records, data collection, uploading to data analysis software to measure the impact of the projects through various measurement and monitoring tools – VIEWS, ACF or UPSHOTS
• Updating on-line monitoring and evaluation systems and completing monitoring reports for the Trust and funding partners as agreed with the Rugby Development Manager.
• Liaising with internal and external partners in various parts of the role, including managing referrals and signposting to other agencies.
• Support the creation of media information and case studies/good news stories to measure the impact of projects
• Attend relevant conferences/workshops in line with identified professional objectives.
• Undertake any other duties required in line with the responsibilities of the post.
• Ensure the service is delivered and managed in accordance with the charity’s safeguarding policies and procedures and comply with all charity policies.
• Work alongside other team members to support in other areas of the organisation as and to promote best practice.
• Promote the Sharks Community Trust and Sale Sharks brand and values in a professional, strong and positive manner.
• To be able to work flexible and unsociable hours where the role of the job requires.
• Undertake any other duties required in line with the responsibilities of the post.
• To work towards agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
More information:
Salary: £10k for the first 12 months rising to £13k for the following 6 months
