The charity is now looking to recruit a Content Manager to help highlight the amazing work delivered by the Foundation and its staff team.

Job Description

Job Title: Content Manager

Hours of Work: Full-time 37.5 hours per week

Location: Sale Sharks Training Centre, Carrington

Starting Salary: £24,000 – £26,000

Reporting to: Head of Funding, Partnerships and Development

Closing date: Monday 12th December 2022

Sale Sharks Foundation is looking to recruit a Content Manager to join its successful team to create content for a range of platforms across the Foundation’s media channels to increase awareness for its programmes across Greater Manchester and the North West.

The ideal candidate will have experience in content creation across multiple channels that aligns with brand messaging and core values. Excellent written and communication skills are also essential. You will be highly organised with a creative flair and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team. Videography experience including planning, filming, and editing content within the Adobe Creative Suite is essential.

Roles and Responsibilities

There are a number of key aspects to this role.  The successful candidate will;

  • Development and delivery of Sale Sharks Foundation’s Communications Strategy, providing narrative, messaging, and key activity to grow the Sale Sharks Foundation’s appeal to the Club’s supporter base and wider stakeholders.
  • Lead on storytelling and the creation of high-quality content to engage and grow our audience.
  • Implement the strategy to support growth of programmes and identify opportunities to drive future growth from all communication channels and partnerships.
  • Proactively generate and ‘sell in’ news and feature ideas.
  • Produce an annual PR Plan which grows Sale Sharks Foundation audiences through a variety of campaigns and identify potential new audiences.
  • Manage all Sale Sharks Foundation external and internal publications, ensuring consistency in delivery of the brand and tone of voice.
  • Grow, manage and engage Sale Sharks Foundation’s digital channels.
  • Run media training for relevant personnel.
  • Manage and support delivery of all partner comms requirements.
  • To personally champion and drive a culture of digital and data awareness and expertise throughout the Sale Sharks Foundation.

It is expected that the role will include working evenings and weekends including match days. This will always be agreed in advance with time off in lieu offered.

Person Specification

Experience & Skills

  • Clear understanding of digital landscape and keen interest in technological developments and advances in this area.
  • Clear understanding of communications to drive audiences and engagement with proven tangible results.
  • Clear understanding of individual channels including website, social and video and appropriate content for each channel.
  • Data driven for audience creation.
  • Proven experience in managing strong, individual personalities and well-known individuals.
  • Proactive in order to ensure the Foundation remains responsive to every opportunity.
  • Evidence of exceptional writing skills
  • Understanding of PR and communications ideally within a sports/charity industry.
  • Demonstrates both creative and operational thinking and judgement.
  • Possess drive, motivation, and acute attention to detail in ensuring all PR and communications opportunities are captured and explored.

Work Phone or Mobile Phone Allowance – Depending on your role at the Trust, you will either receive a work phone to complete your role or a phone allowance. Phone allowance ranges from £10-£20 per month.


Flexible Admin Working location – As agreed with line manager, admin work can be completed flexibly.
