Fly-half Cara Cookland joined Sale in 2022 from DMP Sharks, where she played for three seasons after coming through the North East and Cumbria Centre of Excellence.
She started playing rugby at Moortown RUFC, in Leeds, when she was just seven years old before moving to West Park, in St Helens, when she was 13.
Cara, who is from Leeds, had a big decision to make in her teens when she had to pick between rugby and netball.
She chose rugby and was selected for Yorkshire and North of England at U15s and U18s level and then played her first season of senior rugby at West Park before moving to DMP Sharks.
Outside rugby, Cara is training to be a teacher, completing her PGCE year at Leeds Beckett University where she previously did sports coaching at undergrad level.
