Born in Toronto, Canada, hooker Ewan Ashman played his junior rugby at Sandbach Rugby Club before joining the Sharks Academy in 2017.
Originally a centre or back-row forward, he made his Sharks debut on September 5, 2020, when he came on as a replacement against Leicester Tigers.
Ewan qualifies for Scotland through his father and has represented his country at various age grades, including under-16, under-17 and under-19 levels.
He enjoyed a breakthrough 2019 U20 Six Nations campaign, starting in four fixtures for Scotland.
And later that year Ewan was one of Scotland's star performers at the 2019 World Rugby U20 Championship, scoring seven tries to finish as the tournament's top try-scorer.
He recorded two tries in the first two games of the 2020 competition, scoring against Ireland and then against England.
Ewan earned his first cap for Scotland at full international level in the 2021 Autumn Nations Series when he replaced George Turner against Australia. He scored his first international try a little over 40 minutes into his test career.
