Prop George Arnold grew up a stones’ throw from the AJ Bell Stadium, in Eccles, Salford. He went to Manchester Grammar School and combined his studies with rugby at Eccles RUFC.
Primarily a tighthead but learning to play loosehead, George joined the Sharks DPP at the age of 13 after being put forward for a trial by school Director of Rugby Steve Swindells.
The first trial was unsuccessful but his perseverance paid off and when he was invited back he wowed the coaches enough to be kept on. George says his biggest influence has been school coach Ryan Jennings, who gave up his free time to help hone his skills.
