Club captain and back row forward Jono Ross joined Sale Sharks in April 2017 on an initial three-year deal from French Top 14 side Stade Francais.
He started his career with the Blue Bulls in South Africa, making his debut as a 21 year old in 2011, before cementing his place in the side the following season.
His form attracted the attention of Premiership side Saracens, who signed Jono for the 2012/13 season. But after only making two appearances, he returned to the Blue Bulls.
A move to Stade Francais followed and after three successful years in Paris, he signed for Sharks.
Since joining Sharks, Jono has qualified for an England call-up, but despite a series of match-winning performances, he’s still yet to receive a call-up.
On signing Jono, Steve Diamond said: “Jono is a great signing for us.
“He is a versatile player equally at home at flanker and number eight and is also a leader on the field. His ball carrying ability will be a huge asset in the Premiership.”
