Towering South African second row JP du Preez signed for Sale Sharks on a two year contract in 2020 from the Toyota Cheetahs.
He is the tallest player to ever play for the club, standing at over 6ft 10in, and he’s also the tallest player ever to be registered in Super Rugby.
He began his career with Golden Lions in South Africa, making his Super Rugby debut in 2015.
He made a further three appearances for the Lions, before moving to Toyota Cheetahs in 2018, where he made 26 appearances in both Super Rugby and Pro14.
Former director of rugby, Steve Diamond said JP comes from South Africa with “a great pedigree and is a huge lad with a good skillset.”
He became the eleventh South African player at Sale Sharks and, at the time, the 44th South African national on the books of Premiership clubs.
