Rohan Janse van Rensburg receives three-match ban from the RFU

Tom Penny (Newcastle Falcons) and Rohan Janse van Rensburg (Sale Sharks) each appeared before an online independent disciplinary panel last night.

van Rensburg was sent off by referee Craig Maxwell-Keys in the 53rd minute of the match between Sale Sharks and Exeter Chiefs on Sunday 3 October 2021. This was for dangerous tackling contrary to World Rugby Law 9.13.

The player accepted the charge and was given a three-match suspension by the same independent disciplinary panel. He is free to play again on 25 October 2021.

Rohan Janse van Rensburg will miss the following Gallagher Premiership Rugby matches:

  • 09.10 v Gloucester Rugby
  • 15.10 v Harlequins
  • 23.10 v Leicester Tigers*

*If the player applies to World Rugby for a Coaching Intervention and completes the intervention to the satisfaction of World Rugby then his suspension will be two matches.
