Sale Sharks Women host Bristol Bears in round 12 of the Allianz Premier 15s in a charity fixture this Sunday (KO 2pm streamed LIVE on the Allianz Premier 15s website)
Katy Daley Mclean said Sale Sharks Women’s performance against league leaders Saracens has shown what her side are capable of as they prepare to face Bristol Bears this weekend.
She said: “We were really happy with the girls’ performance. There is a lot of stuff that we’ve been working on in training over the last two or three weeks that they’re starting to execute in the game which is nice to see.
“To be honest, it was really nice for them to get a scoreline that they can be proud of against the league leaders. To go 14-0 up after eight minutes really boosted the confidence of the group and it just shows what we’re capable of.”
Making the long journey north, second-placed Bristol Bears will be keen to pick up some points this weekend having lost two out of their last three games in the Premier 15s.
Sharks put in a strong performance against the West Country side last October, scoring three tries and manifesting a strong second-half resurgence.
Katy said: “Bristol is still just about the conversion when we get into the 22. We’ve got to come away with something when we enter those areas, especially at this level.
“We saw from Sarries that good sides will come back quite quickly and score themselves, so for me it’s still about taking those opportunities when we get them and keeping the scoreboard ticking.
“If we do that, we give ourselves the opportunity to pick up points here and there, but also to go on and win games.”
