Sharks launch Hacienda-inspired away kit

Sale Sharks have revealed the club’s new Macron away kit, paying tribute to Manchester’s rich musical history and one of the city’s most influential figures.

The new design is inspired by the iconic Hacienda Nightclub chevrons, made famous by the legendary Manchester music venue which closed in 1997, but was the epicentre of the city’s ‘Madchester’ music scene in the 80s and 90s.

And the ‘This is our North’ video to launch the new design was shot at a special exhibition created to honour the work of the legendary broadcaster and co-founder of Factory Records, Tony Wilson.

Joy Division, Happy Mondays, New Order and the Haçienda Nightclub are just some of the Manchester icons Tony Wilson aka ‘Mr Manchester’ played a part in creating.

The magenta and Bordeaux colours on the kit are a nod to another of Manchester’s most famous creations, Vimto, which was originally created in the city in 1908 as a health tonic.

The famous chevrons on the body of the shirt are complemented by a white crew neck and a thin white band at the hem. The sleeves, as well as the side bands, are entirely Bordeaux.

The back of the kit is finished with an embossed print depicting the shark fin and the date 1861, the year of the club’s foundation.

On the chest, the Macron Hero is placed on the right with the updated Sale Sharks playing kit crest on the left featuring the simple Shark image.

The kit is completed with magenta shorts featuring, on the sides, the detail of the Bordeaux diagonal bands from the jersey. The Bordeaux socks have a thin magenta stripe on the upper edge.

The men’s away shirt once again features Toshiba across the front. Newly announced partner FOW Car Supermarket takes pride of place on the right sleeve, with DMR Jewellers moving to a new location below the neckline.

On the women’s kit, principal partner BOL takes pride of place on the front.

The new 2025/26 Sale Sharks away kit has a body fit and, like all technical garments produced by Macron for its clubs, is made from Eco Fabric, 100% polyester derived from post-consumer recycled plastic.

Specifically, the main fabric used is Eco Armevo, with inserts in Eco Boditex and Eco Strong Mesh ensuring high performance and durability, along with lightness and perfect breathability.

The new Sharks away kit is available from the online store via the Sale Sharks Online Store or at the club shop at the Salford Stadium from 9am on Thursday 21st August.

Tom Hudson’s Sale Sharks Women will wear the new colours on Saturday when they take on Loughborough Lightning in their first PWR Cup fixture of the 2025/26 season.
